Your CCW Permit Renewal training starts by reviewing basic handgun safety and course standards before we go into a review of penal codes that may have changed since your last issuance. Then, we review the use of situational awareness to avoid conflict, minimizing chances of you ending up in a deadly conflict.

Next we spend a couple of hours with live-fire drills designed to help you qualify, and to help you survive, should the worst case scenario happen to you. You will train to draw from a holster and place defensively accurate rounds on target, to ensure you are confident in your role as a protector. We train you to work with your body’s natural responses, developing shooting and movement that work efficiently.

Class sizes are small, so you get plenty of personal attention and coaching. We keep our classes to a maximum of 10 shooters per day.

Because we emphasize training through repetition, we ask that you bring 200-300 rounds for training. However, we recognize that some students cannot get that much ammo. Bring what you can. We will supplement with Dry-fire training where possible, to conserve.

Successful completion of your 4 hour “CCW Permit Renewal” course will result in your having exceeded California’s training requirements to renew a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit.

(Important:   You must qualify with each pistol listed on your permit. If you need to qualify with multiple guns, bring sufficient rounds for each gun (Placer county=30 rds minimum, Sacramento county=50 rds for minimum)

  • Eye protection: Shooting glasses, prescription glasses, sunglasses, or other suitable tempered protective eyewear.

( Update: In light of the current shortage … bring what you can. We’ll work with it!)
(NOTE: Due to changes in California law regarding ammunition sales, students should purchase all ammunition prior to arrival at the range. If you have having trouble getting ammunition contact me 2-3 business days in advance, for suggestions or assistance.)

Highly recommended for “CCW Permit Renewal”:

  • Caffeine-free drinks: I provide bottled water. If you would like anything else, I highly recommend caffeine-free drinks. Caffeine is a diuretic, and can lead to dehydration. We will be active, and dehydration is one of our greatest threats.
IMPORANT:  Please limit or avoid caffeine intake for 12hrs prior to training outdoors to prevent dehydration and heat related injuries.
  • Sunscreen: We will have limited cover and you will be exposed to considerable sun.
  • Comfortable seating: I provide fold-out chairs like those you would find at the average outdoor wedding. If you find these uncomfortable, you are encouraged to bring your favorite camp chair or stadium cushion. You won’t be sitting much, but it is nice to be comfortable when you do sit.
  • Snacks and/or lunch: You will be burning a lot of calories. The range is a LONG way from the nearest convenience store or drive-thru. You will not have time to buy food or drink once the class begins.
  • Any training material that was not 100% clear to you, so we can review it with you and clarify anything you did not fully understand.

Certificate Lifetime Warning
